Name: Kalli Semler

How long have you been in education? 14. I worked for seven years with Grant Wood AEA, supporting speech-language pathologists. In my final years there, I helped with piloting a program for students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. I am now in my seventh year as a school counselor at Vernon Middle School in the Marion Independent School District.

What is your favorite thing about being an educator? I truly love working in public education. Being able to connect with students and their families while offering support and care is a privilege that means so much to me. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of Marion Independent and to work alongside such dedicated and compassionate educators who positively impact both my life and the lives of our students.

What are you looking forward to this school year and/or favorite memory from this school year? 

Each year I look forward to welcoming our students and celebrating the growth and accomplishments they achieve along the way. I feel very fortunate to work alongside such a strong and talented team, and I enjoy the opportunity to have fun and collaborate with them each day.

Favorite Corda Teacher Store event or memory? I love when the Corda mobile store comes to our school!

All-time favorite school supply item? Sticky notes and headphones for our students!

What are your hobbies outside of education? I love to read and drink coffee and spend time with dear friends! My ideal day is spent with my family, they are my everything.
